Carwin, who finished 12 previous opponents when he had them hurt, appeared to have this fight in the bag. There was no reason to believe that Lesnar would avoid becoming the 13th casualty.

Lesnar earned his award after submitting interim champ Shane Carwin and unifying the heavyweight title. Lesnar scored a quick takedown in the second and forced the tap-out moments later with an arm-triangle choke.
